ETRO: SEEKING HIGHER GROUND
Designer: Kean Etro
Synopsis: "The inspiration is about the sacredness of mountains," shared Kean Etro during a special pre-show preview. "It's the idea of ascending a mountain. So I think climbers, they do go up physically, but at the same time, spiritually. I think we've forgotten to look up and feel small." And with that, what ensued on the runway was an artful fusion of the house's paisley print on hiking boots and backpacks; psychedelic motifs of bears and deers on slickers, bombers and parkas; and just like Emporio Armani and Moncler Gamme Bleu, we're hitting the slopes, with a closing procession of skis and snowboards. Clearly, for fall/winter 2017, we are seeking higher ground.

MSGM: SKIS AND HOOVES
Designer: Massimo Giorgetti
Synopsis: Four words: Trendy Italian street wear. Taking inspiration from horse racing and extreme alpine skiing — interesting, if not bi-polar, references — we saw black-and-white checkered flags on the back of puffer jackets, fur coats worn under a full tracksuit set, and stacks of head gear. In particular, silk head scarves and caps; and sometimes, both worn at the same time. Favourite look? That bright orange hoodie under a orange-striped coat with a contrast camel collar.

FENDI: YES, LOVE, FANTASTIC
Designer: Silvia Fendi
Synopsis: Shut the front door. Definitely one of the strongest collections this Milan men's fashion week. Set upon a futuristic runway — strips of coloured light lining a black runway — models stepped out wearing a fun and joyous collection marked by colour-blocked track pants paired with fur coats; bright zip-up cycling jerseys (with a 'FENDI' pull tag) layered under black suiting featuring contrast top stitching; gorgeous fur slides and fur-striped tote bags; and tell-me-when-they-hit-stores covetable sock-sneakers. And who could forget the thick head bands, beanies and knit sweaters emblazoned with 'YES', 'FANTASTIC' and 'LOVE'. All I can say is: Agreed!
