We spy several trends taking root... For one, socks worn with slides; Another, crossbody bags. Maier's luxurious interpretations of such everyday items means we're looking forward to adopt them in due time.
Contrasting colours were employed to great effect... In one standout look (refer to Look 21), a wine red jacket was layered over a cyan knit scarf and grey Henley shirt, topped off with a lavender hat. Audacious, but it worked.
Speaking of hats... It seems that headwear is making a comeback for spring 2016. Variations of a pillbox/beanie hybrid in knit came in a multitude of colours, from crimson to grey and cobalt blue.
Stripes were a recurring motif... with jackets and pants taking on the linear pattern in unexpected combinations — burgundy was matched with blue, while green paired with purple for a refreshing alternative to the run-of-the-mill pinstripe.
Our favourite look was... Look 22. Its look was one of louche athleticism: The lush jacket in cream and lavender (along with that shearling hood), made it one of the defining looks at Bottega Veneta.
