Jonathan Anderson is the master of reinvention. Remember the refresh of the Loewe logo? This season, he turns his creative eye to a fashion essential — the shoulder bag. Trawling the extensive Loewe archives, he was inspired by a unique buckle he came across: Triangular in shape, it was used as a luggage fastner in another life.
Anderson's modern interpretation keeps the original function of the buckle, but little else remains the same. The geometric fastener has been repurposed and applied to the new Loewe Barcelona bag introduced by the wunderking designer for fall 2015. Crafted in combinations of suede, calf, and patent leather — as well as exotic skins such as crocodile, ostrich and python — the Barcelona is a study in chic modernity that proves simplicity is indeed the ultimate form of sophistication.
