[UPDATE: The music video release date has been moved to a later date, stay tuned for details.]
Malaysian-born, Los Angeles-based Yuna has had her fair share of big-time collaborators in the past: Owl City for the song off The Croods soundtrack, Shine Your Way; Pharrell Williams for Live Your Life and DJ Premiere for Places to Go, the first single off her upcoming record, Chapters. Usher is a recent addition to that list with her track Crush, released in February. Soon, there'll be a music video to accompany that, and fans in Singapore will get first dibs.
Universal Music Singapore will be hosting a microsite where fans can watch the music video. Crush is a lush ballad featuring Yuna's signature honeyed words and Usher's soothing vocals crooning that he "won't let you down, down, down". Initially featuring just the Malaysian alone, she sent the track to the Grammy award-winner for his consideration. Two months later, Usher responded with his own sultry serenade.
Due to be released on May 20, Chapters is Yuna's ninth album and fifth international release. A slight shift from her folk-pop appeal, the new record will be tinged with old-school R&B — the singer had previously gushed about listening to '90s Aaliyah and Brandy while making the album.
