Contest: Win a pair of tickets to electronic music festival, Garden Beats, happening on 3 March
Festivals have the potential to be a total wasteland — just see those horrific videos after mammoth events like Glastonbury and Coachella. Although Singapore's music festivals are on a smaller scale, there's still a lot of waste to be dealt with. This time, however, Garden Beats is keen on changing the reality, slowly but surely.
Not only have they teamed up with Green Is The New Black for a market featuring organic products, they're also using AVANI biodegradable cups made from cornstarch. There's a return-you cup reward system, where you'll save a buck on your next drink. Even if you've thrown your cup away, that one dollar will be donated to the World Wide Fund for Nature.
After noshing on treats from the likes of Don Ho, Grain Traders, Fat Prince, Blu Kouzina, Crack and Espresso Workspace, all food waste will be donated to Citizen Farm. These urban farmers will compost the trash and turn it into fertiliser for their crops. It's these little changes that will make a difference in hopes for a cleaner, greener environment in times to come.
