Sukki Singapora — the world's first professional burlesque artist from Singapore — headlines The Box, the New York City original
In January 2015, Sukki Singapora became the first woman to perform burlesque legally in Singapore. Come September this year, she'll be the headlining act for Boudoir Noire Presents The Box, two exclusive evenings that will fuse Broadway and nightlife.
Just how exclusive are these parties? A general admission goes for $800 a ticket, while premium tables are by invite only. Organised by the same guys behind Women on Whisky Ladies Liquor Club as well as Boudoir Chinois, event partners include Taittinger Champagne, Beluga Noble Russian Vodka and 28 Hong Kong Street — it sounds chi-chi and rightfully so.
If you've never been to The Box in New York City, this edition in Singapore is a must-see. Started by Simon Hammerstein as a way to bring art, theatre and performance into the nightlife experience, the parties in this Lower East Side institution bring to mind old-school vaudevilles, attracting your usual glitterati.
Hosted at the 800-seater Capitol Theatre, the event will be a hedonistic addition to the line-up of Singapore Grand Prix parties. Singapora will perform her opulent corset routine (featuring her 17.5-inch waist) as well as debut a diamond drink perfomance. If watching a woman bathing in champagne while enclosed in a seven-foot tall, Swarovski-illuminated drink sounds like fun to you, make sure you book a ticket and leave the kids at home.
