Where to learn about art conservation and restoration in Singapore
The Artling pop-up returns with a 10-day exhibition and a chance to learn about art conservation and restoration
If you look hard enough, there's always space in Singapore for art appreciation, from accessible fairs such as the Affordable Art Fair to pop-up events organished by The Artling. The latter returns for its third edition this September, bringing together works seen in galleries such as Fost, Gajah Gallery, Ikkan Art Gallery, Pearl Lam Galleries and STPI. You'll also get a chance to see The Artling's recently launched section on design in person, with a showcase of contemporary art-inclined design objects and furniture items.
Apart from mere art appreciation (and of course, possible purchases), visitors will be able to pick up a new skill or two as well. Partnering with Yuan Heng Conservation, The Artling will host a complimentary Art Conservation & Restoration Workshop on 16 September. Here's where you can learn from professional conservator of paintings Hera Chen as she opens your mind to examining, documenting and photographing works as well as other methods used in her practice — adding just another layer to the multi-faceted realm of the art world.
The Artling Pop-up will take place from 8 to 17 September at Artspace@Helutrans. Register for the workshop by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
