5 things to do this weekend: 28 - 30 May
Life's a drag
THEATRE | Hand to God
It's not quite a puppet show, but it's not all fun and games either. This dark comedy looks at grief, religion and what it means to be human in Singapore Repertory Theatre's production of the thought-provoking Hand to God.
Till 6 May at KC Arts Centre - Home of SRT.
BOOKS | Singapore Art Book Fair 2017
If you're into art books and zines, don't give the Singapore Art Book Fair a miss. We recently checked in with festival director Renée Ting, who shared that the annual fair will showcase exhibitors from Korea, Japan and Indonesia alongside local tales.
28 to 30 April, 10am to 8pm at 7 Lock Road, Gillman Barracks.
COMEDY | Singapore Comedy Fringe
Enjoy the last weekend of April by laughing out loud. Join Rishi Budhrani, Kumar, Butch Bradley, Jimeoin, Joanna Sio and Harith Iskander among the headliners of Singapore's comedy festival. You can also join Talk Cock Comedy and see a battle of wits between Malaysian and Singaporean comedians for some patriotic puns.
28 to 30 April at the Esplanade Annexe Studio.
MUSIC | Tropical Explosion with Vik Sohonie (Ostinato Records)
Tune into music from the African continent and its diaspora in the Atlantic and Indian Oceans with Vik Sohonie's latest compilation release party from Ostinato Records. The lineup includes Sohonie himself, supported by Anand N, Kenneth F and Kusto. Listen to a teaser below.
29 April, 10pm to 3am at Montreux Jazz Café.
FILM | The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert
Guy Pearce isn't making an appearance at this film screening and afterparty, but The Glory Hoes will be there to keep you company. Made up of Becca D'Bus, Bobby Luo and Prashant Somosundram, the trio along with The Projector are hosting a boozy screening of the Aussie comedy, coupled with mini drag makeup makeovers and a killer set by DJ Bobby Luo.
