Social media scoop: Reactions to Star Wars, Taylor and Zayn's duet and Alan Thicke
New this week
1. Rest in peace
Actor, songwriter, composer and talk show host Alan Thicke passed away on 13 December at the age of 69. Famous for many acting and writing efforts including sitcoms Growing Pains and Fuller House, his passing sent ripples down the Hollywood circuit who remembered him fondly.
So sad is the passing of Alan Thicke. Such a good husband, father, brother, and friend. He will be deeply missed. Rest in peace dear Alan.— bob saget (@bobsaget) December 14, 2016

2. From son to father
Of course, the late personality was also father to Blurred Lines' singer Robin Thicke, who penned this succinct tribute on his Instagram.
3. 27th year
Taylor Swift welcomed her 27th birthday with tributes from her modelling pals Martha Hunt, Karlie Kloss, Gigi Hadid and Lily Aldridge.
4. That one guy
There's always that one guy on the Internet who'll ruin it for everyone. In Swift's case, it was former beau John Mayer, who tweeted a snarky comment before quickly deleting it.
5. Taylor's other tribe
While not necessarily in squad territory, Swift's fanbase reaches as far and wide to people like Katie Couric and Kevin Costner. Who would've thought.
6. Surprise, surprise
A collaboration no one saw coming, Swift and Zayn Malik (who just happens to be Hadid's boyfriend — how convenient) dropped their new song for the Fifty Shades Darker soundtrack, I Don't Wanna Live Forever. The Internet freaked out a little bit.
This song and collab is just proof how shook and unpredictable 2016 has been #idontwannaliveforever— Proud Of Louis (@iziamftmalik) December 9, 2016
7. Bruno Mars drops some uptown funk onto James Corden
After releasing his Madonna episode last week, host James Corden finally dropped the one we've really been waiting for: Bruno Mars. Singing his new hits as well as classics such as Grenade and Locked Out of Heaven, Mars tries on multiple hats and catches his breath in between tunes.
8. The Supermoon's back
And it's a big one, considering it'll be the last for 2016. In case you missed it, the snaps below lets your eye go where your humble camera couldn't.
9. Who's Riz Ahmed?
You're already familiar with Felicity Jones' and Diego Luna's work — but what about Brit Riz Ahmed? The Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is also a rapper and has played critically-acclaimed roles in films such as Lion.
10. The force is all within us
As the movie opens this week, the world braces itself yet again for an adventure that's out of this world. Dwight from The Office approves.
