1. The #AsianSquat, explained
As photos of PM Lee Hsien Loong adopting the famous #AsiansTakingPictures pose at the White House lawn made their rounds on social media, he made it a point to solve the mystery: Just who was he trying to capture?

Instagram | @leehsienloong You may have seen the photo of me squatting on the White House lawn taking a photo with my phone. Here was my beautiful model: a cute little girl holding both the US and Singapore flags among the crowd! :) - LHL (Photo by me)

2. U.S Ambassador to Singapore Kirk Wagar and his wife, Crystal Wagar killed it with style
Yay, Ong Shunmugam and Q Menswear! The designers were on show as the couple dressed to kill at the White House State Dinner, with Mrs. Wagar adopting this stunning representation of Asian design.

3. Feast for champions
Last year, we had #SG50...this year, it's #USSG50. Singapore and the U.S.'s top dogs celebrated 50 years of diplomatic relations, and what better way to do so than with some serious meal prep.

Instagram | @whkitchengarden Chamomile grown in the garden earlier this year was harvested and dried, and tonight it is being incorporated into the meal at the Singapore State Dinner.

Instagram | @whitehousehistory The Obama State China will be used at tonight's State Dinner. The first course of Maryland Blue Crabs, Calamansi Curd, Crisped Root Vegetables and Spiced Crab Tuile will be served on a plate featuring a band of Kailua Blue color framed with a gold rim.

The prepared meal includes blue crab from Maryland, Asian yams grown in California, and even heirloom tomatoes from our own @WHKitchenGarden here on the South Lawn. —@WhiteHouse

4. Mr. Shay in the house
One of the invitees to the White House? Our Friend of Buro Shigga Shay himself. The rapper was there to perform at the unofficial after party of the visit, but not before he suits up for some real talk with our PM.

5. Tabitha Nauser takes on DC
Washington DC, meet Tabitha Nauser. The singer and DJ was also there to perform with Shigga Shay, and managed to squeeze in some time to explore the capital.

6. The pre-NDP party we weren't invited to
Held at burlesque and cabaret club Sax in Washington DC, Nauser and Shigga Shay treated guests (which included Singapore Minister for Foreign Affairs Vivian Balakrishnan) to a performance and showed off what Singapore's made of.

7. Justin Bieber throws major shade at Taylor Swift
He's gotten flak for misbehaving in the past, but this just takes the cake. The Biebs poked fun at the pop star during a video call with Kanye West, much to the amusement of fans — and dismay of Swift's followers, of course. Still, it's all in good fun.

8. Taylor Swift pens a heartfelt message to her bestie — in public
Because what's private, these days? While Swift has simmered down on social media since the epic Kanye West drama, she once again showed off her advantageous associations with the model crowd in a birthday message to Karlie Kloss.

Instagram | @taylorswift I LOVE YOU KARLIE! You're such an exquisite person, always trying to make things better for others. Every day I'm inspired by how giving, loving, and thoughtful you are. Happy 24th Birthday!!!

9. Jourdan Dunn's a year older, too
Who knew the model friends are birthday twins? Jourdan Dunn turned 26 while her blonde counterpart (who recently went platinum) turned 24 on 3 August. To mark the occasion, the Burberry favourite sang herself a birthday song — after all, the best wishes are the ones you give yourself.

ITS MY BIRTHDAY ITS MY BIRTHDAY

10. The Chinese Olympic swimming team's getting really, really popular
It doesn't hurt to have a pretty boy on your side. In China's case, they've got an asset that's all muscle and easy on the eyes: Ning Zetao, the 23-year-old swimmer who's part of the Olympic team in Rio. This Asian sensation's taking the world by storm just by existing.
