This week, we're crushing on homegrown talent Sezairi ahead of his debut showcase on 2 September
If you remember Sezairi Sezali as that Mr. Nice Guy who came out tops to win Singapore Idol back in 2009, you'll be met with a surprise when you listen to Fire To The Floor. The 28-year-old's lead single from his new EP is a far cry to what he's released before. Not only has he dropped part of his name to just a mononym (think: Adele, Afrojack, Bono), the new album reflects who Sezairi really is: A soul-infused pop brother.
His first English single in six years, Fire To The Floor has already reached number one on Spotify's Singapore Viral 50 Chart and number two on 987FM's Hot 20 Countdown. The EP also comprises five other tracks, including a collaboration with THELIONCITYBOY, who's just released his new album, Paradise last week. Sezairi's new sound is all him: Written and co-produced by the man himself (and Indonesian producer Ari Renaldi), the album talks trials, tribulations and triumphs of the newlywed's seven year relationship with his beau. According to Sezairi, the infectious Fire To The Floor's about the thrill of the chase. On behalf of his newfound female fans, we'd love to be his "princess of the night". Oh, and he's also the Cat Welfare Society's newest ambassador. Have a listen and swoon.
