Buro 24/7 Singapore Weekly Playlist #75: Rockaway Fest
It's pretty hard to put a list together of just 10 tracks that represent Rockaway, there are so many! Each of these songs holds an interesting personal story for me though. Bands like The Get Up Kids and Taking Back Sunday (TBS) with their tracks Holiday and How's It Gonna Be were the soundtrack to my youth. My band, One Buck Short, has covered a fair bit of TBS over the years.
I added 1000 Tahun (1000 years) from Butterfingers because they were one of the first Malaysian bands I ever watched live when I started checking out gigs. Since then, the guys have had an amazing career and left a huge impact on the local music scene here. To have them come back and headline Rockaway on 19 November is pretty special, I'm really looking forward to their set.
Bring Me The Horizon's Empire has a pick because they played the last Rockaway show three years ago prior to us putting the brand on a hiatus. Love Is Only A Feeling by The Darkness is on there because they are awesome and are going to blow everyone's minds away on 29 October.
OAG and Hujan are two legends who we (One Buck Short) have had the pleasure of touring with over the years and they are doing a special show together live for the first time at the festival this year. See you guys in the pit at Rockaway!
Rockaway Malaysia MotoGP Weekend 2016 takes place on 29 October and Rockaway The Saga Continues on 19 November. For tickets, click here.
