Hong — Resident DJ at Zouk — gives a taste of what to expect from Readyset Glo ahead of another farewell to #ZoukJiakKim this Friday
ReadySet Glo (RSG) was all the rage when I joined Zouk back in 2008. At the time, Saturday was my night at the old Velvet Underground and I would play from the time doors opened until the end of the night. Here's a little show and tell of what my nights sounded like back then and what you can expect this upcoming Friday in the main room when Readyset Glo returns to Jiak Kim Street one last time.
Digitalism's Pogo remixed by Shinichi Osawa is one of my all time favourite RSG tracks and was a big tune. I think Crystal Castles are in a league of their own, I can't get enough of them and their songs like Vanished. Friendly Fires was one of the bands that best exemplified RSG's sound andParis (Aeroplane remix)is a beauty that has stayed in my record box forever.
Daft Punk Is Playing At My House by LCD Soundsystem makes me think of other favourite acts like The Fall and the whole punk scene — makes my heart do jumps. You can't ever go wrong with Cut Copy tunes and remixes by Boys Noize so Cut Copy's Lights & Music, remixed by Boys Noize is a given. Miike Snow's Animal (Fake Blood remix) sounds super phat on the Zouk sound system and I love Empire of the Sun's Walking on a Dream so much I had to make my own extended remix of the three minute tune.
I can't end the night without playing Joy Division's classic, Love will Tear us Apart.
Catch Hong at Zouk's Readyset Glo party this on 25 November alongside Wayne The Insane and Zushan at the Zouk main room. Get on the guestlist here.
