If you didn’t receive a boarding pass for Chanel’s opening party of their first pop-up in Singapore, you can still enjoy the travel-inspired tunes from the night’s music curators Singapore Island Culture Club (SICC), Aldrin Quek and Tracy Phillips
Chanel's distinct airline and travel theme this season set the course for our choice tunes. We searched for songs that expound on wanderlust, lyrics that rattle of all our bucket list spots and roadtrip-friendly hits. We wanted to keep the energy high, but with enough musical range to be able to maneuver where the passengers of Chanel's pop-up at Pedder on Scotts wanted to fly... especially after a few glasses of bubbly. First up is Cheapest Flight by Prep, a lovely laid back downtempo groove that's tailor-made for a soul-searching trip: "Take one more sleepless night, and I'm on the cheapest flight, give my head a chance to clear". Meanwhile, Coldplay's Adventure Of A Lifetime says it all: "Turn the magic on, everything you want is a dream away!" There's a current trend of touching indie vocals married with melancholic deep house sensibilities, evident in Moments by Kidnap Kid, which is ideal for those long drives. Gigamesh's cheeky cover of Janet Jackson's hit from 1986, Control, is a modern day indie disco gem of feel good grooves and chords, perfect for any happy escapades. Finally, Autobahn by dance music pioneers Kraftwerk is a classic from 1974 that's a must for any road trip!
The Chanel Airlines pop up store at Pedder on Scotts runs from 24 March to 3 April.
