Buro x Bernard Pivot interview: Slumberjack
What is your favorite word?
Fletcher Ehlers (FT): Inquisitive.
Morgan Then (MT): This is a really tough one. It's a publication so I can't say "celaka" is my favourite word, right? It's like "God damn it!". I say that [when I'm] in Kuching.
What is your least favorite word?
FE: You mean apart from "moist"?
What turns you on creatively, spiritually or emotionally?
MT: For me right now, belacan (shrimp paste).
What turns you off?
FE: Belacan. (laughs)
MT: That's weird right, 'cos belacan smells great to me. What turns me off...people who smell like that! Body odour turns me off.
What is your favorite curse word?
MT: It's gotta be "c*nt". It's very Australian.
What sound or noise do you love?
FE: I really like the sound of air conditioning.
MT: The sound Tesla cars make. It's a really nice hum. It sounds like great technology.
What sound or noise do you hate?
MT: Yeah, me too. Do not like mosquitoes.
What profession other than your own would you like to attempt?
FE: Chemical engineering.
MT: Stockbroking — because that's what I studied.
What profession would you not like to do?
MT: Anything that requires a nine-to-five routine. I do not like working for a boss.
If Heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the Pearly Gates?
MT: If I make it to heaven! (laughs) I'd like to hear him explain why we get things like Zika viruses, and why we get kids who are born with no eyes and ears. I'd like to hear him explain that. Why, dude? That's mean as sh*t.
