Celebrity designer and TV personality Courtney Cachet shares her favourite things
Best of the best
Favourite travel destination:
"I would say France and Italy are my favorite places because they always inspire me on all levels — the people, the natural beauty, the art — but it's the whole package that inspires me. My father is from Marseille and I feel a sense of belonging there in a very spiritual way. But, France and Italy are endless inspirations for me. My personal style is much more in line with theirs than America. The juxtaposition of simplicity and detail speaks to me."
Favourite item of homeware from abroad:
"Italy is where I source a lot of fabrics. They do everything with such thought and precision. France is my favorite for antiques. This year, I found these mini aluminum pots with brass handles from a company called Ottinetti. They are fabulous!"
Favourite television programme:
"As strange as it sounds, I don't watch much in the way of decor programmes. Let's just say, I think it's time for something new. But I love Flipping Out. The best shows are character-based. It's never really about the design and always about the people."
Favourite colour for Spring 2016:
"I think you'll see a lot more bold colors. Fashion is always the ultimate beacon for everything else. Christopher Kane were all about brights while Valentino opted for rich blues. And metallics are here for awhile. I'm a gold kind of girl, so I'm happy about that."
Favourite cushion design of hers:
"In my home in Miami, I have a pair of oversize pillows made from vintage Palm Beach-themed fabric. They're happy, chic and not too fussy. But I'm fickle. Today it's one thing — ask me in a year and I might tell you something entirely different."
Favourite design element in Mandarin Oriental Miami:
"I'm obsessing over their living green wall in La Mar Restaurant by Gaston Acurio. It's lush, fresh and natural, but very chic. I want one!"
