London Fashion Week: Meet the new generation of It Brits
"New meat coming through!"
Tigerlily Taylor, Cora Corré and Maddi Waterhouse are fresh faces on our London radar
Each generation has their posse of British 'It' girls. Not quite full-on model material but also not just a pretty face, each league of London's not-a-girl-not-yet-a-woman troupe has successfully went on to become household names in their own right. They often descend from rock star royalty and aristocratic bloodlines, with Internet cache that's built up from even before they could read. The Marianne Faithfulls, Edie Sedgwicks and Jane Birkins of yesteryear see reincarnations in the Alexa Chungs, Suki Waterhouses and Daisy Lowes of today. As London Fashion Week comes to a close, we round up three young English roses whose star power is just about to shine.
Not to be confused with another rockstar descendant, Tiger Lily Hutchence (the daughter of Paula Yates and Michael Hutchence), 23-year-old Tigerlily Taylor is the daughter of Queen drummer Roger Taylor and model Deborah Leng. The English Literature graduate from Sussex University was a schoolmate of Cara Delevingne, having spent time in the same dorm. An aspiring writer, she's also signed to modeling agency Select Model Management. She's often seen at events for Net-A-Porter, Mulberry and Stella McCartney, rubbing shoulders with the likes of Pixie Geldof, Daisy Lowe and Chelsea Leyland.
Signed to Tess Management, the folks who also represent fellow It Brits Iris Law, Imogen Waterhouse and Adwoa Aboah, Cora Corré first made headlines in 2015 for all the wrong reasons. Grandmother Vivienne Westwood's disappointment in her failure to show up for her fashion show sparked interest in the then 17-year-old, who has walked for Westwood's runways in the past. The model has since cleaned up her act, and was also seen backstage to support her gran's show at the London Fashion Week Men's January 2017 collections. Fun Fact: The sultry stunner's mother is Serena Rees, one of the founders of lingerie label Agent Provocateur — a brand whose aesthetic has undoubtedly trickled down to Corré.
After Suki and Imogen, we now have Maddi. The 19-year-old younger sister of the Waterhouse brood has already appeared on the cover of society magazine Teen Tatler, as well as a fashion campaign with the help of older sister Suki. She attended Harrodian school, the same upper class institution featuring alumni such as actors Robert Pattinson and Will Poulter and comedian Jack Whitehall. On the fashion front, she's graced events and shows by Dolce & Gabbana, Tommy Hilfiger and most recently, Mulberry.
