Amid the creative types and business suits of MAISON&OBJET ASIA 2016 last week, this bright bubble of character was a breath of fresh air. Russian designer Lana Agiyan stood in a small black booth with her Bubble Baby Bed taking up most of the space as interested parties leaned in — for it's not everyday you see a baby cot that's out of the ordinary.
In place of a standard, regular four-sided frame, the transparent bubble is both a crib and rocker in one. Making use of the kinetics of a traditional Russian tumbler-toy called Nevalyashka, the cot will return to its upward position no matter how you rock it — well, up to a 17-degree angle at most. A stopper ring prevents it from tipping over, so your baby stays safe and snug in its bubble.
This acrylic crib's breathable mattress is also double-sided: White for summer and brown for the colder seasons. It's also washing machine-friendly, antibacterial, hypoallergenic, anti fungal, breathable, insulating and odour resistant...all you need to keep your bae happy and healthy. Be prepared to fork out at least 2,000 USD for one. We hear NBA Star Iman Shumpert's a fan.
