Shampoo and conditioner duos for every hair type
Taking care of your hair is more than just getting the right colour and styling products. Here are the shampoos and conditioners that will become your new, daily necessities

If you're the kind of person who doesn't like investing in good haircare but still wonders why your hair colour fades or your hair looks super frizzy, then read on. The right shampoo and conditioner should not be an afterthought, but an investment. In fact good products — coupled with good washing practices — can mean you need less styling products and less time in front of the mirror ensuring your hair behaves. At the very least, you need a shampoo and conditioner that addresses your scalp as well as your hair. Here are some hardworking pairs for different hair types and uses.

FOR EVERYDAY USE
This goatmilk shampoo and conditioner has a beautiful, delicate scent and is combined with oak kernel oil and honey to leave hair smooth, shiny, visibly lifted and well-conditioned. Great for sensitive scalps.
Top tip: In general, a 50-cent coin sized amount of shampoo works for the average head of hair though you should adjust the amount for shorter, longer or extra thick hair. Remember to always rinse out all shampoo and conditioner thoroughly as any residue can cause clogged scalps and oiliness.

FOR DEEP CLEANSING
Just had a good workout session or used a tonne of styling products? You need a good clarifying shampoo and conditioner. This duo is silicone-free and helps to remove sebum, dirt, debris, oil, and other toxins and pollutants. It also has puricare technology that coats individual hair strands so dust and pollutants can't settle onto your scalp and hair for up to 72 hours after you've washed. Perfect for our urban jungle.
Top tip: How often should you wash your hair? In our humidity, you can wash every day if your hair and scalp get oily and greasy (especially after you've exercised). However if you're trying to prevent hair colour fade or if you have ringlets and curls that don't do well with constant washing you can alternate — just used dry shampoo to freshen up the scalp.

FOR CHEMICALLY-TREATED HAIR
If you've been indulging in lots of texture treatments and colouring, and your hair is looking kind of fried out and brittle, you need a nourishing shampoo and conditioner that isn't too heavy. Besides the star ingredient of baobab oil to increase moisture retention and elasticity, this shampoo and conditioner contains soy protein, chamomile and panthenol (vitamin B5) to rebuild damaged hair and help mend split ends. Bonus? It's 100 per cent vegan and cruelty-free.
Top tip: Should you be avoiding certain chemicals? Many brands are steering clear of harmful chemicals that don't do anything for your hair, like parabens, sodium laureth sulfate and pthlates in their products. You might want to avoid these ingredients if you have a sensitive scalp that itches and flakes easily, as that, along with artificial fragrances may be causing your problems.
