How to get this gorgeous look from Chanel's SS16 show
Blue is the warmest colour
Blue is a pretty hot makeup colour for the upcoming Spring season, but it was at Chanel's ready-to-wear show in Paris that we really felt that a vivid blue eye was something that any girl could pull off. Like a cloud of colour, the blue dusted over the entire eye area — starting over the brows, crossing over the nose bridge and ending under the eyes — looked almost like a cerulean sunglass tan line, but way cooler. How to get the look? Sneak a peek backstage at the process and then check out the actual Chanel makeup used.
Use a wide and flat eyeshadow brush to distribute the colour evenly on the lids, around the brows and under the lower lash line. Look closer and you'll see that the blue, though mostly uniform, lightens along the lower edges and intensifies on the nose bridge and outer corners of the eyes.
Although it may not be immediately obvious, a touch of silvery, cream eyeshadow is blended along the lower lash line to give the eyes sparkle and dimension. Use a stiffer eyeshadow brush to apply this more precisely.
Lashes are then coated with mascara — in this case a deep navy — to complement the eyes. The blue shade ensures that lashes don't look too stark against the soft and muted shadow.
To keep the look clean and modern, lips are finished off with a sheer, toffee-coloured lipstick. Match the lipstick to your natural skin tone or dab it on with your fingers for an even sheerer finish.
The end result is pretty darn spectacular. Daring, edgy and yet unerringly fresh, we declare this the perfect look for the fashion-foward gal this Spring.
