Glamour to go: Three makeup looks for the festivities
Jingle belles rock
With Christmas less than a month away now, the mad race is on to find the perfect presents, fabulous party outfits and a well-deserved pampering session at a spa that has yet to be fully booked.
While you run around town getting your festive to-do-list sorted, planning a flawless face to wear for the festivities might have slipped your mind. But before you panic and dash to the nearest beauty counter or scramble for inspiration on Instagram, here are some fabulous looks to help you get your festive makeup game on.
From glitzy soirees to cozy get-togethers, we've got three easy looks that will have you ready for caroling and carousing:
1. Razzle dazzle
Nothing screams festive more than a touch of glitter. Show off your Christmas spirit by wearing a layer of gorgeous shimmer for an eye-fluttering look that's all twinkle and tinsel. All you need is your sparkle of choice and a good glitter adhesive to prevent fallout. Swipe your eyelids with an even coat of the adhesive primer then carefully apply glitter by pressing it on piece by piece. Let just one feature be the focus and keep the rest of your face minimal by simply slicking on a tinted lip balm — it will instantly modernise what can look dated... if done wrong.
2. The perfect pout
A bold lip is the way to go when you're out to celebrate the night away. Instead of the usual red, try a deeper crimson or maroon shade with purple undertones for an autumnal, vampy vibe that's also fittingly festive. Pull the look together with dewy skin and a sweep of highlight for a soft glow. Instead of the usual eyeliner, why not dabble with a minimalist line (above) to balance out the dark lippie and go for generous lashings of pitch black, volumising mascara.
3. On-point liner
Perhaps the most crucial product in a woman's makeup bag, many of us can't leave the house without eyeliner. For something a little different this holiday, give your favourite flick a unique twist by finishing it in adorable rounded points. Sweet yet sophisticated, complete the look with a hint of sculpting blush on the hollows of your cheeks and opt for well-groomed brows to frame your face. Get pretty, polished and party-ready in just a few steps.
