Five showstopping hairdos at the Met Gala 2016
The theme for this year's Met Gala was Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology. And while chain-mail gowns and glow-in-the dark ball dresses were par for the course, the hair got pretty outrageous too. Here's a round-up of the most outstanding looks in order of ascending craziness.
While we admit we don't know exactly what it is that Zendaya does, we were digging her chic, 70's-inspired bowl cut (that is likely a wig). Kudos to the young starlet for experimenting with different hairstyles from dreadlocks to blonde tresses.
80'S HAIR BAND HAIR
We never said we loved all these hairdos, just that they made us sit up. Lady Gaga's bottle-bleached, voluminous 'do reminiscent of 80's bands like Poison had all the little details down pat (black roots, crunchy maggi mee texture), but we wish she had left this hair firmly in that decade.
Perhaps the drop dead gorgeous Ciara took the theme a tad too literally, but her silver finger waves were kind of a brilliant take on the classic meets modern theme.
UP AND AWAY
Katy Perry and fashion forward are not usually words we would use together, but her high updo, baby bangs and bleached-out brows are a pretty interesting combination.
Lupita Nyong'o always has interesting hair, whether it's a scuplted afro, a cool undercut or sharp lines. Her hairstylist Vernon François deserves a round of applause for this creation. Sculptural, attention-grabbing yet strangely appropriate for the occasion when worn with her trademark grace and poise.
