What's baking? No, we're not talking about the latest cookie craze, but a makeup style popularised by drag queens that is now favoured by DIY makeup experts everywhere. In the video above, Peter Philips, a Belgian makeup pro who also happens to be Dior Makeup's creative and image director explains, "It's a technique that takes highlighting even further by accentuating the shading and contouring effects."

Philips version of baking is super easy. He uses the brand's Skinflash Radiance Booster Pen to illuminate selected areas of the face, like the triangles under the eyes, before blending it in with a sponge. The final step? The actual baking, which simply means dusting a generous layer of translucent loose powder over all these areas and allowing it to to sit for five to ten minutes, before gently brushing it off. The result? "A matte finish which is so intense it becomes almost luminous," says Philips.
