Have you ever looked at a music video and wondered what shade of lipstick the singer was wearing? If you have, you'll love this new campaign featuring Swedish electropop dup Icona Pop and French makeup brand Make Up For Ever. Directed by English photographer Rankin, the video features an exclusive version of their hit single Emergency, and celebrates the 46 whopping shades of Make Up For Ever's Artist Rouge lipsticks in riotous style.
Says Rankin, “Make Up For Ever are a brand who always look to have fun and get creative. They love their music. In Icona Pop, they have partnered with a real force of nature. For me, performance and music is all about character and attitude. You can see that in bucket loads here: they just leap off the screen”. Filmed in Rankin's North London studio, the makeup was done by celebrity makeup artists Colby Smith. The colours they're wearing? Both Caroline Hjelt and Aino Jawo chose three different makeup looks and two iconic shades — a velvety matte deep red called #M401 for Caroline and a creamy, dark blue called #C603 for Aino.
The video highlights the fun, empowering and transformative power of makeup — specifically the makeup in the video that will be released in September. And confirming that when it comes to makeup, girls just wanna have fun, Icona Pop said, “Makeup is so important for us when we are on stage, to do something fun for people. You can be a superwoman with just some blush and a black lipstick. We express ourselves through music – but also through how we dress and how we wear our makeup”.
