Tom Ford Black Orchid announces Mica Arganaraz as its new face
Girl from Argentina
Gone are the days when only one type of beauty (and hair type and skin colour) was celebrated in luxury campaigns for fashion, fragrances and cosmetics. The latest non-traditional model to front a Tom Ford Beauty campaign is Mica Arganaraz. With tanned skin and a messy, curly shag, she looks more like the bass player in an indie band than a globe-trotting modelling superstar. Here are three things to know about this up and coming South American model.
SHE'S FROM ARGENTINA... BUT IS GOING PLACES
Will Arganaraz prove to be as popular an export as football sensation Lionel Messi in time? We think so. She originally sent her polaroids to a boutique agency LO in Buenos Aires, but has since signed on to international agency Viva. Besides booking campaigns with huge fashion houses like Prada and walking for nearly ever major design house from Chanel to Louis Vuitton, Arganaraz has appeared on the cover of i-D and the Japanese, Italian and French editions of Vogue. Anna Wintour, it's time to put her on the cover of US Vogue!
SHE IS #HAIRGOALS PERSONIFIED
One of her most instantly recognisable traits? Her hip girl haircut that is trending in a big way now. Slightly dishevelled curls with bangs — yes curly bangs — Arganaraz manages to elevate her 'do to one that every girl wants to replicate. We swear her hair has more personality that the average model. She told Vogue Paris that she takes care of her famous, almost '70s style mane with a heavy dose of coconut oil, used as a poultice.
SHE SEEMS LIKE A COOL PERSON
Okay, we don't know Arganaraz personally, but a quick peek at her Instagram — with just under 70K followers — reveals someone who seems low-key and relaxed. Among her likes? Thai massages, cigarettes and playing the guitar (so we weren't that far off in thinking she might be in a band). Seems like an effortlessly cool chick and one we would love to hang out with... if only we were so lucky.
