Vertiginous. That's one way to describe first love. And fleeting as it may turn out to be, the heady, dizzying romance of it all is a feeling that remains unforgettable. Perfumers have long been trying to bottle that into a fragrance, and Yves Saint Laurent Beauté's Mon Paris is the latest to do so. The campaign also captures this sensation — check out the 360° video above that captures Paris from a different view set to the soaring strains of U2's Love is Blindness.
And besides literally turning Paris upside down, the three perfumers Olivier Cresp, Dora Baghriche and Harry Fremont have turned the idea of a traditional chypre fragrance on its head with this modern interpretation. While a traditional chypre is classical with a strict structure, Mon Paris is a brave, bold narcotic white chypre that is fit for a modern age of love. The scent opens with a zingy bergamot from Calabre and boasts the juiciness of raspberry and strawberry accords, while a pear note gives it a juicy, crispy tone. Binding it and giving it a bewitching twist are base notes of patchouli and musk. The result is a sweet and youthful fruity floral scent that still has a carnal fullness and transparent floralcy.
