Why these two Kiehl's masks are worthy additions to your skincare routine
Serve and protect
It might not seem like the most obvious beauty buy, but a mask is a good product to pick up at the new year. Why? Masks work quickly and help undo some of the accumulated damage caused over the past year — think late nights, too much alcohol and not enough sunscreen. Kiehl's new offerings use natural ingredients, some of which are used in traditional Asian beauty recipes — think turmeric, cranberry, cilanto and orange — to create effective, yet gentle formulas.
The first mask, the Turmeric & Cranberry Seed Energizing Radiance Masque, is an instant facial in a bottle. This energises dull and fatigued skin to restore it to its healthy, rosy optimum. The crushed cramberry seeds act as a natural exfoliator so it's almost like a scrub and mask in one.
The second mask is something you should stock up on for the next time the haze hits or when you're visiting polluted mega cities. The Cilantro & Orange Extract Pollutant Defending Masque not only replenishes skin but defends it from aggressors. Although it's designed for use at night, slapping this anti-pollution wonder on in the morning helpfully prevents impurities from adhering to the skin. In a clinical trial, after using the mask, up to 84 per cent of micro particles could be removed from the skin, compared to 49.4 per cent for non-treated skin. We don't know about you, but we certainly don't want nasties and pollutants sticking on to our skin after a long day.
$49 each. At Kiehl's stores from February
