Jake Gyllenhaal is part of Calvin Klein's modern family
In a new interpretation of Calvin Klein's Eternity campaign, actor Jake Gyllenhaal takes on the role of a father

The striking new campaign image for Calvin Klein's classic Eternity fragrance franchise puts in firmly in 2017. Featuring actor Jake Gyllenhaal, who is known for his roles in films like Brokeback Mountain and Nocturnal Animals and model and activist Liya Kebede, the images refreshingly portray an interracial couple. Playing their daughter? The enigmatically-named Leila, an adorable four-year old actress. The concept for the campaign was apparently done in close collaboration with Gyllenhaal, whose production company Nine Stories (that's a literary reference by the way) produced the film (below) that was directed by acclaimed director Cary Fukunaga. The campaign images were photographed by Belgian photographer Willy Vanderperre, a close collaborator of Calvin Klein's Raf Simons.

And the literay connection doesn't stop there. It seems Mr Gyllenhaal is quite the book lover. Poetry enthusiasts may recognise the famous poem recited by both Gyllenhaal and Kebede to their fictitious daughter, e.e cumming's [i carry your heart with me(i carry it in]. We won't lie: The film was kind of heart-melting, and it was refreshing to see a change from the usual focus on sensuality in fragrance commercials to a portrayal of familial love. Said Gyllenhaal in an interview with Vogue, "I had been approached a number of times [for advertisements], but I never felt it could be possible to be honest or to say something where I felt like my behavior could be authentic." What changed his mind? "Raf [Simons] came to see me [in Sunday in the Park with George] on Broadway and approached me as an artist and a filmmaker and that was really enticing to me, because all I am looking for, whether it be making a piece for a fragrance, or playing a character on stage, are relationships."
