Get the fresh makeup look straight off Burberry's show
Runway to real life
We know what you're thinking. "But they look like they're wearing nothing on their faces." Dear reader, let us correct you, because that barefaced mien takes a lot of work, and Burberry Beauty has the products — straight off the runway and available for immediate sale — and extensive application tips as proof. The look was influenced by the 20th century artist and sculptor Henry Moore, and according to the brand, the focus was on letting the models' own beauty shine through. It was designed by Burberry Make-up Artistic Consultant Wendy Rowe "to create a sense of individuality, vitality and optimism". The main points of the look "was dewy skin with highlights and sculpting to mimic the silhoutte of the face; eyes which are subtly defined with lightness, creating an open eye effect; and pared back lips in natural tones."
As to how to achieve that similar sculpture-like glow? Start with the Fresh Glow Luminous Fluid Base used like a moisturiser to give a dewy, fresh glow to the skin. Next comes the sculpting with the brand's user-friendly Face Contour pen swept under the cheekbones, jawline and along the nose to sculpt and softly define. Remember to blend any harsh lines of colour away to avoid looking streaky and therefore tacky. For the look of real skin, apply the Fresh Glow Foundation only where needed, to smooth and even out skin tone and texture. And if you want to cover up even more, apply either the Cashmere Concealer or Sheer Concealer to hide any flaws.
For the lips, study your own skin tone to choose the right shade of the brand's Lip Colour Contour — a one-step pen to prime, shape and contour the lips. Those with lighter skin tones, should choose the Lip Colour Contour in either Fair No. 01 or Medium No. 03 and apply it all over the lips. If you have a medium skin tone, choose either of the shades above, but finish by softly pressing Burberry Full Kisses in Nude Beige on to the middle of the lips, for added oomph. Finally if you are darker-skinned, after applying the Lip Colour Contour in Medium No. 03, apply one light layer of the new Liquid Lip Velvet in Fawn to enhance the natural tones of your lips. Voila! Instant (and invisible) perfection.
