Build your immunity: Shiseido Ultimune Eye
It used to be that our immunity was something we built by heading to school and toughing it out, illnesses be damned! But the scientists at Shiseido have found a much better way to build up our skin's immunity after nearly 20 years of research. Unsurprisingly, your skin, mind and immunity are all closely related. It's no surprise that we fall ill after long bouts of stress and anxiety. And one of the hardest hit areas are the skin around our eyes. Not only is the skin there as thin as an egg membrane, it is subjected to 20,000 blinks a day, and has few sweat and sebum glands, making the area prone to dryness.
Working on this premise, Shiseido has translated its expertise on the function of Langerhans cells (the 'security guards' of the skin) into an eye product that also stops the vicious cycle of dryness. Using ectoin — a microorganism — and white birch extract, Shiseido has created an exclusive ImuMoisture Extract that is the secret ingredient in this concentrate. In addition the previous Ultimune ingredients like the ImuCalm Compound and the botanical cocktail of ginkgo, thyme and perilla reduces inflammation and boosts antibacterial effects.
For those who need extra hydration around the eyes, use this lightweight concentrate before applying your eye cream. Those with normal to combination skin might find the texture sufficiently hydrating. What you can expect after at least four weeks of use? Hydration, an improvement in fine lines and a general brightening of the area.
