We talk makeup with Burberry Beauty stunner Iris Law
Iris Law is part of a new breed of IT boys and girls who have taken the worlds of fashion and beauty by storm. And it's no wonder. Who can argue with her classic English Rose looks, glassy blue eyes, glowing complexion and camera-ready pout? But behind the sultry and stylish images for classic British brand Burberry Beauty's newest campaign is a down-to-earth, 16-year old who just happened to have hit the genetic jackpot. We find out about the lip shades she loves, why she quite likes looking like a young Sadie Frost and just how many lipsticks she has on her at any one time.
Wendy Rowe was the makeup artist on set. Did she show you any makeup tricks or give you any advice?
I really enjoyed having my makeup done by Wendy Rowe. I loved the different lip colours she did for me using Liquid Lip Velvet. Especially the red lips she gave me [Military Red No.41 and Oxblood No.53]. Now, I do red lips when I go out at weekends or for dinner. Wendy showed me that red lips suit me and how to create great looks with Liquid Lip Velvet. Also, she showed me how to contour my face using the Face Contour pen [in Medium]. I took a photo on my phone so I could remember where she applied the contour to do it myself at home. I do it all the time now when I wear makeup.
What are your makeup bag essentials?
My makeup essentials change very regularly. I often don't think about it but products just drift in and out of regular use for me. At the moment, it's probably lip balm, sheer concealer, powder, blusher, mascara, contour stick and some liquid lip colours. I use Burberry First Kiss in Soft Peach, Burberry Sheer Concealer in Light Beige, Burberry Nude Powder in Ochre, Burberry Cat Lashes in Jet Black, Burberry Light Glow in Earthy Blush, Burberry Contour Pen in Medium and, of course, Burberry Liquid Lip Velvet.
What has been your favourite makeup look so far?
On the Burberry shoot, Wendy Rowe did a fresh dewy skin, simple eye and a strong red lip. I really like this look because it's timeless and reminded me of all the old pictures of my mum [Sadie Frost] when she was in her 20s — so iconic
How many lip colours do you have in your bag?
One in my wallet and if I am wearing another colour I'll carry it in my bag. I have lots of different colours in my room that I choose from before I leave the house.
What do you like the most about Burberry Liquid Lip Velvet?
Before I shot the Burberry Liquid Lip Velvet campaign, I usually refrained from using lip colours because I struggled to get a neat finish and well-shaped, so it would often end up looking smudged. But I found Liquid Lip Velvet easy to use and it has definitely made me love using lip colours.
Which are your favourite Burberry Liquid Lip Velvet shades?
My favourites are Oxblood [No.53] and Bright Plum [No.49].
Can you share any tips on how best to apply Liquid Lip Velvet?
I apply it to the middle of my bottom lip and use my finger to move the tint across my lips so that the coverage is light. The colour of Liquid Lip Velvet is strong, so you can vary how much you want to apply.
What's the best thing about makeup?
The best thing about makeup is that it helps you feel better on those days where you might feel like you look horrible. My favourite part is the ritual of applying it, which I find calming and satisfying.
