The hottest Holiday collaboration: Maison Kitsuné for Shu Uemura
Fantastic Miss Foxy
Ever look at a limited-edition makeup collection and squeal "I want that... and that... and that!" Shu Uemura seems to have the knack for creating that effect — think of last Christmas's adorable Choupette collection. The good news for the brand is, that was our insta-reaction to the new Shu Uemura x Maison Kitsuné collaboration that will be out in time for Christmas.
To those in-the-know, Maison Kitsuné is a the go-to brand for comfortable, wearable staples that successfully marry both Japanese and French sensibilities. That's fitting as one half of the designing duo is Japanese Masaya Kuroki while the other is Frenchman Gildas Loäec. Kitsuné which is Japanese for 'fox', mixes prints, colours and materials with savoir-faire.
The collaboration with Shu Uemura encompasses 23 cosmetic items (skincare and makeup) as well as two haircare products. First, let's talk packaging. We love the fresh, modern mix of prints and colours (pastel pink is paired with bolder, solid hues) and the subtle fox references. As for the products there are the all-time-favourites like the brand's signature Cleansing Oil and UV Under Base in the cute Kitsuné print as well as its world famous eyelash curler with the fox charm dangling from it.
Then there is the fun makeup products that will raise collective sighs from makeup junkies around the world. Among them, false eyelashes in red, white and blue, eye and cheek palettes, lip glosses, nail polishes and eyeliners.
Last, there are the tools and cases that we're crossing our fingers we'll find under our tree if we're really good. If not, the makeup brush set is the perfect gift to self as it comes with a adorable pouch, while the professional makeup case is a worthy splurge if you're lucky enough to get a fat annual bonus.
Here are our top picks:
The collection will be out in Shu Uemura stores and counters from 1 November
