Ambush is the surprise collaborator with Shu Uemura on its spring collection
If you're not familiar with the brand Ambush, get acquainted with this label now. The brand started nearly ten years ago in 2008 as an experimental line of jewellery created by a talented duo — musician and producer Verbal and graphic designer Yoon. With a signature pop-art inspired style that captured the cutting-edge aesthetic of Tokyo, Ambush is know for working with highly skilled craftsmen in its native city. The brand has since branched out to include clothing and have even collaborated with brands like sacai, Maison Kitsuné and even Louis Vuitton menswear. Now it's latest collaboration is with Shu Uemura on a collection called Stay Gold — in reference to Robert Frost's poem Nothing Gold Can Stay.
For the 2017 spring/summer artist collaboration expect makeup and skincare wrapped in gold — playing on the sheen and texture of jewellery. Says Uchiide Shu Uemura's international artistic director, "This was our first collaboration with a jewellery brand, and it was a challenge to reflect the texture and colors through makeup. But as you can see, the final result is exciting! And we both enjoyed collaborating. You often hear that makeup and accessories both possess the ability to accentuate the wearer's natural beauty. So, for this collaboration it was important for us to produce makeup that shines as beautifully as jewellery. By using the collection, you can shine like jewellery, transform into your ideal you, and enhance your everyday look and life." The collection includes an eye foil (only one shade will be available in Singapore), four new shades of Rouge Unlimited in limited packaging as well as special gold cases for foundation and to customise your eyeshadow and cheek shades. Not all the products will be available in Singapore, but here are some of the highlights you can grab here.
