Nars works with artist Konstantin Kakanias for its summer collection
Girls of summer
Sea. Suspense. Splendour. Those key words from makeup brand Nars pretty much sums up its delightful summer makeup collection. Working with artist Konstantin Kakanias — whose drawings have been published by Vanity Fair and The New York Times — the spirited, sassy women he has illustrated exclusively for the collection are chic, modern and happen to be sporting killer makeup.
Dive into the collection which includes a new product, the Lip Cover, that drenches lips in a saturated dose of colour. Also included are the Dual Intensity Blushes in gorgeous, skin-flattering shades Liberation and Sexual Content as well as four, beautiful Dual-Intensity Eyeshadows that can be worn wet or dry — for a sheer or shimmering effect.

Why did you decide to work with Konstantin Kakanias?
The sense of energy and play in his compositions are so clever and still so chic. He was the perfect collaborator to help turn our colour stories into fantastic scenes.
What was the inspiration for the collection?
Summer is always so colourful, but not necessarily glamorous. That is, unless you're in the south of France. I love the Côte d'Azur and wanted to play with the idea of a fashionable beach moment lived out through colour and little escapes.
What do you love about the south of France?
It is so authentic, but also deeply beautiful. From the coastline to the people, there is such an established culture there that reminds me of the glamour of old Hollywood movies. There is adventure, art, and always, always fashion.
What is your favorite product from the collection?
The Lip Covers are really great. They aren't what you'd expect at the beach — nothing like a gloss — which breaks the rules, in a way. They're rich with a bit of lustre.
