5 Jill Stuart makeup must-haves to satisfy your inner princess
You’ve crossed your fingers and prayed endlessly, and now Jill Stuart Beauty is finally setting up shop in Singapore. We curate the five top picks your girly side won’t be able to resist

Can we just put it out there that these are great times for makeup addicts living in our Little Red Dot? Because it seems every other week we're getting news that a cult brand has made its way here, with names like Chantecaille and MDNA Skin by Madonna set to launch in the very near future. Even the hair scene is getting a shakeup via a new-in brand founded by celebrity hairstylist François Vernon. Yes, we're frothing from uncontained excitement, if you can't tell.

This uptick in beauty debuts now includes Jill Stuart, the Japanese-New York hybrid that combines the elegance of said fashion designer with the savvy of Kosé Corporation for a beauty brand that's unapologetically girlish and fun. With everything created to look like jewels to leave out on your vanity — and scented like oh-so-yummy fruits to boot — Jill Stuart is the definition of sugar, spice and everything nice. Loyal followers are even dubbed 'Jill Girls'. In fact, we probably don't even have to hash out the whatsits if you're one of the girls, and you've been getting your Jill Stuart fix from neighbouring countries or through the World Wide Web.

Jill Stuart Beauty Singapore

Slated for a launch date of end March, we're telling you now to break out your wishlist because a Jill Stuart Beauty binge is going to happen. But if you're not looking to go overboard no matter how much the ridiculously pretty packaging is calling out to you, then here are the five goodies to put on your shortlist instead:

1. Airy Tint Watery CC Cream SPF30/PA+++
It says 'CC' on the tube but what you get is the pigmentation of a medium coverage foundation. Trust us, we were just as surprised swatching the product; it's not everyday a CC cream impresses us. The blendability is a solid gold star, and it appears to layer well if you've any spots to conceal while still retaining an overall lightweight look and feel.

2. Crystal Lucent Face Powder
Just holding the compact alone might spur you to recite the words 'moon prism power makeup!' (what, is no one else getting the Sailormoon feels?). Childhood girly fantasies aside, the finely milled, multi-coloured pressed powder is great for touching up, plus it helps to colour-correct and even out skin tones. Faking flawless skin done and done.

3. Ribbon Couture Eyes palette
If your weaknesses are pretty packaging and palettes (or palettes in pretty packaging), you need this in your life. Once you're done flatlaying the heck out of it, opening this beautiful case reveals a 4-pan grouping of eyeshadows, already colour-coordinated to take any guesswork out of the equation. They do lean towards a sparkly finish as most Japanese shadows tend to, so go in with a light hand for the glitzer shades.

4. Lip Blossom
You know those lipsticks that are so gorgeous you die a little on the inside once the bullet gets smeared? Or beauty gods forbid, you ding the case. These Lip Blossoms fall right into this category, and it even comes with a secret flip mirror on the top of the cap. With so many shades to choose from, you'll be hardpressed to pick a favourite but hey, you'll have fun swatching them all.

5. Loose Blush
A new-in among the bevy of pretty, shiny Jill Stuart goodies, this is blush like you've never experienced it before. Besides rocking a packaging akin to a gloss product, it goes on the face via a fuzzy applicator that resembles a fluffy dandelion stalk (yup, the very one the model's holding at the top of this page). As for the actual product, it dispenses from a specially designed mesh interior, which allows the applicator to pick up just the right amount of blush. Talk about cute and useful.

Jill Stuart Beauty is available at Sephora Ion from 29 March
