Get the look: Willow Smith's raspberry pout
At the Chanel Métiers d'Art 2016/17 presentation in Paris, Chanel muse Willow Smith — all of 16 — and her mum, Jada Pinkett Smith, redefined mother-daughter chic in their all-black ensembles. And with her nose ring, dreadlocks and cool girl makeup, Smith inspired us with her youthful aplomb. Sporting a soft raspberry lip and a smoky eye, she stood out for her fresh faced, ever-so-slightly unpolished appeal. Well beyond your teenage years? Fret not. Take a leaf from Smith's book, with makeup that's bright, but oh-so-effortless. Here are the products you need for her glowing, glam look that looks like your emanating pure light.
Start the makeup process with a good highlighting or strobing cream and build up the layers, for that lit-from-within glow. It gives skin that kind of sweaty-sexy glow you see on runway models and super cool editorial spreads. Apply it over your moisturiser or even over your foundation, on the forehead, upper cheekbones and temples.
Try: Tata Harper Very Illuminating, US$41, from Net-a-Porter.com
Let your brows have an unstructured look, by brushing on a brow gel (to give them a slight tint) but leaving them otherwise untouched. Pick a more natural shade like a medium brown to avoid giving them harsh definition.
Try: Benefit Speed Brow Tinted Brow Gel
Forget heavy contouring and go for a soft flush. A stick or cream cheek tint will have some opacity to the finish, but will still allow your natural skin texture to show through. Blended with your fingers, it will melt into the skin for a natural, slightly imprecise finish.
Try: Nars The Multiple in Maui
Try a multi product approach to Smith's lip look. Start with a liquid lip oil to hydrate your lips and create a sheer, popsicle-like stain as a base, before layering over with with a metallic lippie. Pat it in with your fingers for a plush look. If you want even more shimmer, apply some loose pigment with a gold undertone in the centre of your pout, to catch the light.
Try: Lancôme Juicy Shaker in Bohemian Raspberry, $36 and M.A.C Nutcracker Sweet Gold Pigments and Glitter Kit, $68
