There are times when we you want to treat yourself from top to toe. But treating your face at your feet at the same time? Now that's something truly unusual. We were booked into the Perfect Synergy treatment — an efficient, yet utterly pampering treat that combines a customised facial with a holistic pedicure — which promised to do just that. The plush and luxurious Remède spa is known in particular for being the only place in Singapore to house a Pedi:Man:Cure Studio by famed chiropodist Bastien Gonzalez.
The two therapists — and yes four hands — work in tandem; facialist Cathleen told me it took her over two years of training to perfect this treatment. Perhaps it was a good thing I was lying in a bed, as my nail therapist Steve who is a trained podiatrist — unearthed a whole host of tools including a drill (to buff nails) and a blade (to remove dead skin). Though those tools could look intimidating, the dry pedicure was carried out with such skill and precision that there was absolutely no pain. Steve worked efficiently and unobtrusively, cleaning and shaping the nails and removing the dead skin from my feet, in a pedicure that expertly combined podiatric elements with a beautifying aspect.
Meanwhile, Cathleen cleansed my skin and performed a gentle microdermabrasion to gently remove the top layer of skin. My skin was then pampered and treated to a mask, facial massage and moisturisation using the spa's own line of Laboratoire Remède Alchemy products. The highlight of this treatment? When all the hard work had been done, and the therapists carried out a synchronised massage. With one person massaging my feet and calves and another my shoulders, back and neck — often working on opposite ends in perfect synchronicity — this experience was utter bliss. Leaving with glowing skin and soft, moisturised feet (as well as naturally pink nails that had been buffed with a chamois), this is one treatment that will leave you literally walking on clouds, prepared to face the big, bad world.
